Were you expecting a React portfolio with animations and useless libraries? Sorry to disappoint. I have no desire to learn a frontend framework that will be obsolete in three months, especially now that an LLM can write and use it better. In my world, the less code you write, the smaller the attack surface. This is all you need to know about me.

whoami

My name is Luigi Miranda (born in '98), but I have so many nicknames you can call me whatever you prefer: Gigi, Gino, Pit, Lu, GG, Ginos, Chu, Gnu, Bujak, and I could go on forever. I'm from San Giuseppe Vesuviano, near Naples: a place known for a declining textile sector and a dialect I'm not exactly proud of.

I spent three years studying Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, then I thought life was too simple. So I made the "easiest" decision of all and switched to Computer Science.

Bachelor's Degree

During my bachelor's I realized that C is my language. Pure, direct, without filters. If you ask me how many languages I speak, I'll answer five: Italian, English, Neapolitan (yes, it counts as a language), Korean (about fifteen words, but I'm working on it), and, of course, C.

During that same period, I entertained the dark idea of becoming a full-stack developer. I recovered quickly, realizing that the modern web is a house of cards made of abstractions and ignored vulnerabilities, where people only care about aesthetics at the expense of efficiency and security.

Master's Degree (석사 학위)

Discovering the world of vulnerabilities during my bachelor's is exactly why I decided to enroll in a Master's in Cybersecurity (which I'll finish in March 2027). It's a huge and complex field that I'm trying to explore deeply.

At a certain point, however, the routine at home started to bore me, so I left to study in South Korea for six months. I loved the experience so much that I decided to go back, six months later, for another semester to write my thesis. Basically, my master's degree is 50% made in Italy and 50% made in Korea.

What I think about AI

Today AI is devouring everything, including part of my desire to study. Exactly for this reason, I rediscovered the beauty of reinventing the wheel from scratch, instead of having everything ready in five minutes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an "AI atheist" or an LLM flat-earther: I use LLMs every day (probably too much) and I exploit their full potential. To be honest, sometimes they have even scared me (read here if you want). But I study cybersecurity, my mindset prevents me from blindly trusting anything, let alone a probabilistic algorithm. Let's just say professional paranoia was included in the tuition fees.
